The Mount Befriending Service is open to older people who are aged 60 plus irrespective of background, status or religious persuasion in a way that supports others agencies working with older people in the community. On the 13th of October 2011 we became a Scottish Charity Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and our charity number is SC042651. Our name is The Mount Befriending Service. We aim to promote the wellbeing of older residents living in the south east area of Glasgow specifically those who are isolated and lonely as a result of an illness, disability, age or family circumstances and also those who care for them. We aim to promote the welfare of those residents by providing, managing and operating a Befriending Service.
As a Befriending Service, we are committed to working collectively with and to complement the services of other community groups, statutory and voluntary organisations. To achieve our aims, the Befriending Service will provide the opportunity for volunteers to gain new skills and experience as well as offering encouragement and support.
